Recording a Sale Manually

Sales on the platforms that email you when something sells record themselves. Every other sale you record by hand, such as a Facebook Marketplace sale or cash to a friend. It takes ten seconds and keeps your sales history and your tax figures complete.

1. Open the sale form

There are two ways in:

  • Open the item from Inventory → Items, and then click Mark as sold at the top of the page.
  • Navigate to Sales, click Record a sale, and then search for the item by title or SKU.

2. Enter the sale

  1. Under Where did it sell?, select Facebook Marketplace, or Other (offline or another site) for a cash sale or a site RelistKit does not know.
  2. Under Sold for, enter what you were paid. For Other, enter exactly that number; no fees or tax are added.
  3. Under When?, leave today or pick the date.
  4. Click Record the sale.

Three things happen when you record the sale:

  • The item becomes Sold.
  • The sale appears under Sales with your profit. Your cost from the item page comes off; nothing comes off for fees on a cash sale.
  • If the item is still listed somewhere else, you get the take-down reminder.

Tax on sales you record

If you are not registered for GST/HST, nothing tax-shaped happens. The sale simply counts toward the $30,000 threshold, because you collected the payment yourself. If you are registered to collect GST/HST, RelistKit works out the tax from your settings (your province, and whether your Facebook price includes tax or you add it on top) and stamps it on the sale for your return figures.

Common questions

I recorded the wrong amount.

  1. Navigate to Sales → All sales.
  2. Find the sale's row.
  3. In the Actions column, click the pencil to edit it.

Can I record a sale for an item that is not in RelistKit?

Add the item first, either from its Poshmark listing with Add to RelistKit in the panel or from a draft, and then record the sale.
